Englefield Estate has been in the stewardship of the Benyon family for more than 250 years. The woodland covers over 25% of the total area of the Estate, which is 3 times the national average.

The Estate's woodlands, including formal parkland, extend to approximately 3500 acres (1,400 ha), of which 60% are broad-leaved and 40% are coniferous.

Woodland management has been careful to ensure that all those aspects that most people identify with a typical English landscape are preserved.

All Englefield Estate Woodland is FSC® certified.  This means that the woodland has been independently inspected and evaluated according to strict environmental, social and economic principles and criteria as agreed by the Forest Stewardship Council®.

This is a strong endorsement of the Estate's commitment to the Long-Term sustainability of our traditionally managed woodland and our respect for the countryside in all of its aspects.
