The Englefield Estate
Students from The National Film and Television School in Buckinghamshire selected rural parkland on the Englefield Estate as the backdrop to their new short film.
The next generation of filmmakers spent a day at the Estate shooting scenes for Backseat; a film which follows Tyler who has run away from his foster home, and during a car ride to his new foster family, receives some life-changing news.
Backseat’s Producer Claud Cunningham said: "The extraordinary generosity of the Estate and its invaluable support were instrumental in bringing our film to life.
"The location was perfect, and being free from concerns about traffic management or public disruption allowed our director and team to focus entirely on their creative vision. We couldn't have achieved these results anywhere else."
Englefield’s Events Manager Peter Carson who works closely with the crews’ shooting films and TV programmes on the Estate said: "We're passionate about supporting the next generation of filmmakers, so it was excellent to welcome the National Film and Television School to the Estate. We are thoroughly looking forward to watching Backseat when it's released."
Englefield House and Estate has played starring roles in popular films such as Netflix’s The Crown and Disney’s Cruella. In 2024, the Estate was also used by British Airways to bring to life its British period drama-inspired onboard safety video, designed to engage passengers with important safety messages.
