Englefield Village Stores is open for business and exciting summer plans are now well underway under the watch of new business owner, Liz Wirth.
The shop and adjoining house on The Street in Englefield are currently being refurbished, so the Stores are operating from the barn behind, which would usually house the Tea Rooms.
The Stores remain stocked with all your kitchen cupboard staples, alongside a successful takeaway range, including freshly prepared sandwiches, homemade cakes, and hot and cold drinks.
In July, Liz will be launching a pop-up tea garden, serving a wide range of homemade refreshments, and celebrating the village of Englefield.
“There’s such a beautiful space outside and I want to make the most of this,” Liz explained. “The pop-up tea garden in a spacious marquee will serve homemade sandwiches and light lunches, cakes, and drinks, and I'm looking forward to welcoming everyone in the summer months.
“I'm keeping food miles to a minimum by using as much fresh produce from Englefield House as possible – a few minutes’ walk from garden to plate! I'm working with a local meat supplier for our Saturday morning breakfasts too.”
“The Tea Rooms will be a real celebration of Englefield, so I'll be displaying pictures of Englefield Village over the years and sharing some facts about the area too,” Liz added.
“Despite the ongoing work, I’ve been thrilled to see so many people coming in to get teas, coffees and sandwiches to takeaway or sit outside to enjoy. I'm so grateful for the warm welcome and have taken on board everyone’s ideas and suggestions.”
